About Us

My best thing is when we pretend to be other people and make faces like them

Drama is more important than just performance

Children learn best when they are having fun, so drama is a perfect tool for learning. Drama Llamas helps children understand the structure of stories, play with language and understand emotions while exploring characterisation. These building blocks give those who wish to perform in the future the skills to do it well; but for others it develops the confidence to take on more day to day challenges such as speaking up in class or giving presentations in the workplace.

Something for everyone

It’s wonderful to see the children develop as each term progresses. The quiet ones grow in confidence and the lively ones learn to listen and take turns. We’re proud of each and everyone of them! Read what people are saying about us

Drama Llamas classes encourage imaginative play between parent and child and will help you, as a parent, to nurture this important part of your child’s development. As parents, we are so often too busy to engage in our children’s games and sometimes we lack the energy or inspiration to get involved. Drama Llamas will not only give you the opportunity to spend precious time with your child’s fantastic imagination, but the stories and activities we explore each week will give you ideas to enjoy at home with your little one.

Unaccompanied Classes

Drama Llamas is brilliant. My daughter loves going on a Monday after school every week. Her imagination is full of ideas and bursting with stories when she leaves. She always tells me all about the session when I get home from work

Special time together with your child is invaluable; however we recognise that sometimes you need a break! We also recognise that some children respond better without the distraction of parents and siblings. So for this reason we also offer some classes just for the children. For these classes we choose venues with a spacious area where grownups and can sit and chat over a cup of tea, and siblings can play with a basket of toys. You will always be given notes on the session so you can still talk to your child about what they have been up to. We also invite grownups & siblings in to the sessions at the end of each term to join in with the activities and also to watch a short show that the children work towards during the final few minutes of each weekly session.

Drama Llamas is not about performance. It is about using drama as a fun tool for learning. However, the children and very proud to show their grownups what they have been working on. We sometimes give parents the option to make simple props for the show which helps the children feel even more special.

These classes are for ages 3 and above. Click here to book into one of our child only classes.

Younger siblings at Drama Llamas

Both my girls (aged 3 and 10 months) absolutely love the class! And it’s great to be able to take them to a class that engages both of them despite the two year plus age gap

NCT Christmas Party

Drama Llamas has something to offer the whole family and younger siblings are very much welcome as a part of our classes. Although Drama Llamas is primarily aimed at children over 2 years of age, very young children gain important stimulation from our sessions and have a great deal of fun! Younger siblings are involved in the session and encouraged to join in as much as they want.

We charge a nominal fee for younger siblings over 12 months as they will be taking a more active place in the class.

About the Drama Llamas Team

Helen and Caroline

With five children between us we find ourselves being constantly surprised and delighted by our children’s boundless imaginations. We wanted to engage further with their imaginative play and to make the most of this special time. This gave us the springboard to create Drama Llamas.

Caroline is a trained professional actress, holding a first class degree in Performing Arts from Manchester University. Caroline has worked extensively in theatre, television and radio. However, the work she found the most rewarding was that carried out in children’s Theatre in Education, youth drama groups and phonics and linguistic audio projects.

Helen has a PPE degree from Oxford University and worked for 8 years in the Civil Service. She was always most at home, however, in front of a class of children. She is trained to facilitate education through drama and has extensive teaching, activity leading and coaching experience, both at home and abroad.

Caroline’s talents and experience combined with Helen’s natural flair for creative writing and storytelling has resulted in a well-balanced and winning team. Together we have designed a fun-filled programme to provide both children and parents with stimulating sessions where they can learn through play.
